Channel funds based on data collected regarding actual efficacy of reducing recidivism instead of current metrics.

I think it should be the same, both police staff should be treated and trained the right way and funded to do so as well as more to be able to access other needs as well as the thoughts of the citizens and how they feel about the community they live in and what should be there.

Less funding for "Money Grab" policing, speed cameras, red light cameras, placing speed enforcement on known "faster" roadways, and more funding for investigative policing, and police training in todays world.

 @B29J5Z3Liberalfrom Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but police should still be active but under a new protocol that ensures safety and communication as a priority first over anything that may cause harm.

Increase funding for both police and social services for mental health and increase staff and training for mental health calls in the community

 @B286ZK4New Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4mos4MO

Funding should be split between better social training for POs and social/emergency services like EMTs and social workers for violent or mental health related incidents

Police should have lowered funding and if those funds were to go to better social and community programs that would be the most ideal solution.

 @9HNLZPBfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but split the police into different departments that handle different types of violations (e.x: Highway patrol)

 @93CQRLYNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Partial funding cuts to police, putting the cut budget to social programs. Only done if the police do not need the funding to operate properly (3rd party examination to validate claims of operability).

 @8YCLPYYLiberalfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Do an audit for the police and see what departments can be changed to community lead service and which departments need more funding.

The funds should go to training the officers and making sure that people are treated equally with respect when they come in contact with the police.

 @99C5LNMfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

if u take away money from police right now u will have have the budget and have the force, right now police officers are meant to be , first aiders, social workers, ect because money wasjnt directed to it

 @9945BH3Liberalfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Police funding should stay the same, and the gov't should provide additional funding for mental health services.

 @974S6TYfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

some, but not all funding should be redirected to social and community based programs

 @8ZMJWMPfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

I think the police should get more funding but their training should be increased drastically and changed so no twisted or racist police enter the force.

 @8TWDTHBConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but the mandate of police should be expanded to include more of a social welfare element. Also, this is an issue of provincial jurisdiction.

 @8RYT9DFfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

yes and no, find a happy medium, reform the police to the extent it needs to be in order to ensure equality amongst how they treat individuals
