These points should not be at odds. There should be more funding for community/social intervention, however this does not have to come at the expense of policing and there may be more or less funding required for both.

No, this is a classic version of carrot and stick. Carrot is the social programs, and the stick is the police, both are needed to have a safe and growing city.
@9VP6P4W6mos6MO
I believe the re-education of police needs to happen and more in depth training in “life-threat ending” scenarios.
@9TLF4ZN7mos7MO
Depending on the density of the population in the area, the funding should be based on the rate of crime, and add units to target issues based upon votes from the community
It totally depends on the jurisdiction in question. Allocating funding to social programs matters, it can come from police budgets, but I don’t associate them closely.
@9RBYWHW9mos9MO
Police funding should reflect the demands we put on police. If we ask them to do a lot, they should be funded appropriately. If we reduces the demands on the police then we can reduce their funding.
@9RBRXY99mos9MO
Policing should remain. But we also need more funding for social and community programs and further training police officers.
@9RBPL7Z9mos9MO
Funding for policing should remain same, funding for corporate subsidies and higher taxation should for corporations be implemented. Offshore tax sheltering should be aggressively pursued
@9H42GBK1yr1Y
we need unarmed community based responders for non-violent calls, and highly trained armed police for violent calls
@96RVX3V2yrs2Y
Redirect some funds to social programs
@96FFN4W3yrs3Y
Cut some of the funding for community and social based programs to help
@93BLSL73yrs3Y
Find funding for them without taking funding from police
@8Z6K3L83yrs3Y
Give more intense psychological training, and more strict with the police punishments if they choose to not follow the law instead of protecting them because they are a police officer. Increase funding to better high crime and low income communities and give them the resources to better the area and remove the select few to rehabilitation zones to give them an actual chance of a better life.
@8YWZND33yrs3Y
It should be equally funded
Yes, replace police with ARMED community based responders for non-violent calls
@8SL42554yrs4Y
I am a bit in-between because some police do their jobs well, and most don't exactly do the best.
@8RR4GCL4yrs4Y
Keep funding for the police the way it is now but commit to Police Reform
@8R4ZV6DLibertarian4yrs4Y
Neither, reform is the best option.
@8R2T2BZ4yrs4Y
I think the funding should be used to make the process of becoming a police officer longer and harder to ensure good police officers.
@8QVR3PL4yrs4Y
No, but increase training programs for police and make it mandatory 4 year program and have stricter repercussions for those who are proven guilty of brutality/abuse of authority
@8QDY7CX4yrs4Y
Yes, but proper budgeting for training for officers are necessary, also having other community programs available to assist in areas where police presence will cause agitation and possible harm to those who need assistance
@8D8QNF35yrs5Y
funding towards federalpolice as well as towards social support programs.
@98WD55J2yrs2Y
I feel they shouldn’t take all the money but the community’s would benefit from more programs to help people
@98RTBB52yrs2Y
i feel like we should have the cops and social and community based programs
@96ML3STNew Democratic2yrs2Y
No but increase training for police responding to mental health crises
@9464L2W3yrs3Y
No, but leave like 5% of the police funding for the programs
@8XLZ5LQ3yrs3Y
Increasing funding and training of mental health and social interaction, as well as de escalation training of law enforcement personal.
No, we should keep funding police but also fund social and community based programs.
