Local Police departments should be working with social/community-based programs, as well as medical professionals to ensure the public's safety as well as the individuals. Additionally, there should be more training for police, and mandatory economic, physical & psychological reviews, to ensure they are not at risk of becoming dirty, and still serve the public regardless of ethnicity, medical situation, or economic status.

A serious overhaul is required of all local police departments, starting with an audit of their funding and where it goes. Additionally, an in-depth review of the police officers currently serving their communities should be complete on every level to ensure no one is abusing their power. Lastly, add an unarmed community-based contingent with medical professionals for non-violent calls.

Yes, bridge the funding gap between police funding and education, social welfare aspects.

It should be dependent on the crime rates of a region and the nature of most of these crimes.
@8XZG5PY3yrs3Y
We can still keep police in defense for the country during extreme criminals, but we should also have people who can talk things out with more lighter situations.

Increase funding and training in all communities. Be more transparent with how police department operate as well.
@8TH3KMK4yrs4Y
At least partially, but those organizations shouldn't replace the police entirely
@8T4PHLK4yrs4Y
the money should go to training police, by professionals to deal with the situation is and safe manner, as wells employing people to respond to non-violent calls

I believe the police should get what ever funding they need to retrain and rework their system from stopping fight/crimes to preventing and deescalating.
@8QHYTNY4yrs4Y
more funding should be provided to the police departments so they can have more community involvement and mental health training.
@8PMZ6RBConservative4yrs4Y
neither, spend the money on something more important, like schools

Funding to local police departments should be used to train the forces so they can actually be effective. But we should also invest in community based programs because building a sense of community reduces crime rates. In other words, both are currently necessary.
@9BQBNYG2yrs2Y
Little funding should go toward other things, but police departments shiould still receive funding
@98JTVZC2yrs2Y
No, increase funding if body cameras and other methods of accountability for officers require it.
@8RTV6WP4yrs4Y
The police department is important to an area because the residents leave their lives in their hands. On the other hand community based programs should also be considered just as important. Maybe try splitting the funding since both options are equally important to a community.
