I believe we could redirect some of that funding while also implementing stricter guidelines for becoming a police officer. I do not believe we should significantly defund the police as that creates a dangerous environment.
@99YXYZM2yrs2Y
i bielive we should still be paying the police department and help people with the program
@96DRDYW3yrs3Y
Depends on the area but yes cut some of their funding.
@96CY56D3yrs3Y
More funding should be put into social workers
@8ZX3GXZConservative3yrs3Y
No, issues with police are due to inadequate funding. Increase police funding
@8YVV3Q73yrs3Y
they should not take away funding for police but put towards new money for community based programs
@8YGJVCY3yrs3Y
No, but there should be increased training and probationary periods for officers, as well as training in community awareness and instituting support systems
@8VBJHQS4yrs4Y
Police should have a wider range of training to respond to any/most scenarios, but other specialists may be dispatched in addition, depending on the circumstance i.e. Mentally disabled
@8V87Q6C4yrs4Y
Yes up to a certain amount
@8TSYDC34yrs4Y
keep funding to the police force while directing a portion towards other organizations to ease the responsibilities of the police force and help people in mental distress get the appropriate help necessary.
Yes, redirect some of the police funding towards social and community-based programs.
@8R75FR74yrs4Y
Increase police funding in order to include social & community programs creating a more diverse approach to policing
@8QF9R5S4yrs4Y
yes and no, it should be balanced based on need
@8Q78ZPK4yrs4Y
It can be argued that a small amount of police funding be utilized to support social workers in a collaborative approach. Safety is still an important factor and police need to be present.
Allocate funding for both. Police need to be more educated in dealing with people with mental health problems. People with mental health problems deserve the opportunity to overcome their mental health issues.
@8PJTXB7Conservative4yrs4Y
Yes, but only for Mental health resources
@8YYKH8K3yrs3Y
No but the money should go to making better police academy’s/programs and mental health checks for the police.
