Increase or continue funding and add branches to existing police to include trained mental health workers and other

Add more social workers, counsellors, mental health nurses to attend low risk calls - police should still attend every call. And have police do additional trauma informed mental health education

Increase funding for social community based policing within current police force. We need better officers and the right people dispatched for certain types of calls.

No, this is not even about the crime. It goes in the direction of strengthening the military potential of Canada. People who are trained to respond to violence are an additional asset.

 @B2CVPM4from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Maintain current police funding (no increase). Increase funding for mental healthcare workers to accompany police when doing safety checks or responding to domestic calls.

 @9RMYX2Xfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

To some degree, yes, but social and community-based programs cannot fully replace police on serious crimes.

 @9JRF49Lfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

It depends on the place. Some officers need more money for more training and to learn to be in the feild but there are many programs which are underfunded.

Increase in police funding as well as Increases for mental health workers getting involved in certain situations.

 @8TYMC6Qfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Reduce police budgets and fund other resources like counselling, housing, etc.

 @8TCTRHBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, part of the funding should be redirected to social and community based programs as well as better respond education for police forces

 @8SGVGF6from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only divert funds that are not essential to carrying out regular services.

 @8RJTBVGfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, replace a portion of police with unarmed professional, skill-based responders for non-violent calls, while keeping police for violent calls and improving their training. Reform the police to rid the system of racist and violent cops who protect eachother.

 @8QQVC4Cfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

if directed to proper training to help educate and help fight the current issues

 @9CB94SDLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No it should not be redirected but they should find money to spend on social and community issues too.

 @98NX3MVLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but funding should be increased to social workers that can respond along with an officer to a non-violent or low risk call

 @B4PPBZNfrom Ontario  answered…2 days2D

Every officer should be given training in de-escalation and be required to attempt nonviolent tactics before farce is used.

 @B4RBMTLfrom Ontario  answered…7hrs7H

I think local police should still have some funding but funding should also go to community based programs. Having a balance is good as well as giving the polics a little less power.
