No, but have have police go through a most strict training and mental evaluation to determine their stability and ability to do their job without using bias

 @B49GFH5Liberalfrom Alberta  answered…3wks3W

Police should instead be reviewed for abuse of power consistently and trained in non-violent de-escalation. Police should go under the same biased testing as juries do before being able "serve justice"

 @B46CB8Lfrom Alberta  answered…3wks3W

Funding should be given to both, not redirected. Our police budgets have continually decreased and they are unable to do their jobs as well. BUT, social and community based programs should also have increased funding.

 @9L7P6GJfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

yes depending on the city, for example the lethbridge police is a wonderful service to lethbridge that go above and beyond to help the community

 @9FSSWS7New Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but efforts should be made to hire more social workers, mental health specialists and addiction counsellors to complement police officers.

 @9FP5RC4Greenfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase funding to social and community based programs independent of police funding.

 @96KSTFXConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

If it didn’t affect police training or their ability to improve and protect the community.

 @96KD662from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

funding should increase so that police can be better train to deal with situations like mental health problems.

 @92M8FFHfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, a group should be created to respond specifically to non-violent calls who have special training to handle these events. This allows officers to be utilized more effectively. This would also need to be create in tandem with increased mental health supports.

 @8YCQ7HQfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VRTQVNfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Keep funding for police and add funding for social and community based programs

 @8VLVZP3from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

We need the police yet I believe there could more public resources available

 @8VLDG3Vfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but continue to have both a force for non-violent calls and a force for more violent calls.

 @8VJFQJNfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

I’m gunna say no I believe better training ,therapy’s must be implemented along with anger management training, not everyone can wake up and wonder if they well die today. There must be retraining on when use of force is necessary. Along with any racist actions should result in dismissal and therapy’s to help that disorder along with replacement to another sector of the work force

 @8VJ7CMYfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only a portion and with specific mandates, such as sending health workers to deal with addiction or mental health crises.

 @8VGK6RZfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding should be decreased, but we still need well trained armed responders for serious crimes

 @8VBBSB6from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V57N9Pfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, police should be supplemented with unarmed community based responders for non-violent calls. Given the drug related crime in Canada at this time we cannot afford to defund the police.

 @8TYFKX8from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, add more community base responders but still maintain a viable police presence

 @8TX9JF8from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Some police funding should be reduced to add mental health worker responders to certain issues that Police presently fail horribly at.

 @8SXKXWCGreenfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Only partially. There are benefits to more social and community programs and less police, but not no police.

 @8PZKNQHNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Police should go under further training and there should also be more social and community based programs

 @8CKY8PZfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

police should not lose or gain any funds they should simply hire better officers and have better exams

 @9BSV4MRfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BPSPM6from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

police should work with social and community programs, funding should be used for both

 @99788KWfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

It needs to be split between the police and community programs, the ratio should be determined based on crime in the area

 @9945P2Lfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Divert 10% of the Funding to help the Communities, and hire people from those Communities

 @8TYFXBPfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Re-directed in some communities to more social and community based programs, and increased funding for police in higher crime rate communities
