Having the police to do more outreach in higher crime rate communities, and work with community grassroots through education and pathways to avoid engaging in crimes or how to communicate to

 @9W9ZRG7Greenfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, and more extensive training for officers in de escalation and cooperation with said community services

i’m a bit in between on this question because the police do a great job of keeping order and balance, however i do also believe that social workers and people like that deserve an increased pay.

do not cut the funding for police but create less harmful responders for non violent calls

 @8YY8CVNConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Local law enforcement needs to occur across Canada. A federally run police force has and will always have corruption

 @8TY2YD2from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No if you take away the police who will be there if someone commits crime increased funding for police department in high crime rates. This question is no longer relevant and should be removed

 @8S6BSZYfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe police need their funding. However I also believe that they need more training and career intervention/counseling. They need to partner with other community supports. And they should have more training to deal with the domestic violence crisis and further fallout

Increase funding for community based programs but keep police funding the same

 @8Q8XQQ5New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Police forces should be largely demilitarized, and funding previously used for military-grade equipment (armored vehicles, SWAT gear, etc.) should in part be given to social services.

 @8KHNPR3from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Keep funding the same for local police departments and increase funding towards social and community based programs

 @8JLFNPMLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, both police and social/community programs could use more funding/training/resources.

 @9CSJ492from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Enhance community policing by having a mental health trained police staff in the force

 @8ZF3CWCfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Police departments all over Canada are corrupted in certain aspects. The Police department should require officers to have far more training than they supposedly "need".

 @8VB554JGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but divert a portion of police budgets towards accompanying unarmed community based responders for non-violent calls.
