There should be targeted de-escalation training that should be reviewed and scored on performance, at the same time, balance out the the funding where it's most required. Local jurisdictions should be able to allocate funding based on needs if they are doing their jobs.

No, funding should be directed to social and community based programs but “abolishing the police” and reducing funding for police is not an answer

Increase police funding to provide training and staffing able to deal with social and mental health issues more appropriately

I feel as though the funding for local police departments should be also directed towards higher education and training for police officers/

No, fund the police enforcement, but invest more on social programs for youth.

 @8ZTXBKPfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

No but programs on proper training should be presented every couples years, to keep police violence low

 @8VV8SMTfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but still give them enough money to police yo still provide services to severe offenses

 @8VRKHHBfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Take some of the fends from for the police yeah but, keep most of it for the police departments.

 @8SD6V3Sfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, increse spending to tech police bout non lethal takedown methods (disarming and grappling) and help bring back the respect for the police that try to keep us safe

 @8QD9VKNfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Police need to be better trained in de-escalation techniques, and should also not be the first to respond to potentially dangerous citizens who have mental illness. It only leads to violence. Furthermore, I believe police need to be monitored carefully, especially their public social media.

 @8J6T4HZfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

There should be funding for both. We need police but we also need community based responders to go to more calls the police don't need to be at

 @98YRBP7from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Give slightly less funding to police departments but maybe give a little extra to social and community programs

 @8VJ7MXZfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but don't abolish all police funding, instead fund their training to better educate them on mental health, communication, and harm reduction
