More mental health and de-escalation Training for the police as well as more care facilities for those in need. You can do both.

Funding and training for police departments should be increased for police. They should also increase funding for social and community based programs (somehow)

Replace police only for wellness checks, mental health calls, and social programs that train people to deal with situations

 @9DZXPT6from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

If local police departments have good training and funding then I think that half or more depending on the police departments circumstances can be used for social and community based programs.

 @8ZBWYHPfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Both should be funded because we need police and we also need social programs

 @8YCSC7Rfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that the police should have less funding and the community have more but not get rid of the police

Yes, some funding should be redirected from police department to social and community based programs but not the majority of it, around 25%.

Give additional funds to social and community based programs rather than redirecting it from other areas within the department

Yes but not all of it I think a better filter for who can become a police officer

 @8VBBSGQfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, funding to social and community based programs should be increased and connected to police

 @8V7LS65from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Agree with funding and training in higher crime areas, also community/municipal policing is great, certainly NOT defund them, they and first responders have their own lives on the line for our well being... That is welL worth the funding

 @8TXFGDNfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Longer training for police like a bachelors degree with more mental health training as well as addiction and de escalation programs increase age entry

 @8TX4X5TConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, not right away. But if we spend more money for social community based programs than in theory we shouldnt need to spend as much policing. However it wouldnt be an overnight process

 @8R4ZQZQfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Educate the citizens since young age to prevent crimes while keeping the current policing. I feel that if a society has more or less crime may depend on culture and education.

 @8QRVKS6Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, somewhat of the funding. But not completely because the police should still get their fair amount of the funding. Completely abolishing them or taking away their guns does not seem reasonable. Overspending on them is wrong though.

I think that there should be more community programs, but I don't think that the police should be abolished entirely
