No, there should be more professionally trained personnel at schools with effective non lethal equipment and increase security measures in schools.

 @9F3YN58from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, maybe security outside could have a fire arm but there is no place for a gun in a classroom full of children.

 @98L33P9Rhinoceros from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings

School shootings are not this bad in Canada that it requires teachers to carry around guns. As a student myself, I would not feel safe. Even if you conceal it, students will always find a way to get it.

 @93QFPPZfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Only if the teacher(s) have training and the firearm is unknown/locked away from the children/teenagers.

 @8Q2SVY7from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Bring back police in schools as protection and outreach for students as polls showed most were in favour of this practice

 @9QZCYDNfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

No, this would probably increase risks of accidental shooting. If there's a risk to the school then hire actual professional security officers.

 @9QFNQQCfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, if the teacher was aware and knew how to use the weapon, there would have to be a special course. It is for the better safety for the children and people in the building.

 @9GZ8BL3New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, any firearms not for hunting should be outlawed in Canada. If there are no guns, there is much less need for a gun.

 @9G2TX5NConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, Only if the entire population is also allowed withstanding current licensing, training, testing and continuous vetting.

 @9FBCTZKfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but teachers in possible high-risk rooms should be allowed to have tasers after doing a very strict personality and safety test

 @96L4W7Xfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, there should continue to be strict gun laws to prevent the need to have weapons in school in the first place.

 @9645TY3from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93RH9D8New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

depends on where the school is and they should have a licence and mental tests done to see if they are capeable of carrying a gun

 @92FWGTBfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Ban all guns for public use, no one should have a gun, including teachers.

 @8XZYC7Yfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't want a poorly payed civil servant to have that much power over my child. So no

 @8XZC2RVfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I dont want servants of the state to have that much power over my child

 @8VTCRZCfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, that wouldn’t make anything better. Instead we should tighten our gun laws and give teachers extra crisis training AND give our students more support ie mental health

It is teachers jobs to teach and educate our children. They don’t even get paid enough for that. Why would we put more responsibility on them.

 @8TXCC9Yfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TVQYLPfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, funding should go toward counsellors/addressing the root of school violence, not arming teachers.

 @8TTKY8Lfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think teachers and any citizen should have the right to be armed if they wish, but only after passing rigourus firearm training and CRCs

 @8TJ222Sfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, spend money to increase the safety and well-being at schools instead

 @8T452LXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be no weapons in schools, a lot of religions groups carry them as "ceremonial" but a weapon is a weapon.

 @8T2D59Hfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no but all schools in criminal area's should have at least one guard who's armed and can contact police at any time from any where.

 @8S73DY8from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8S3NTLNfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R854XRfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no because if there was a threat from a student i dont think the teacher would be capable of firing the gun and if it was an outside threat and they did fire the gun it might leave them mentally unfit to teach kids

 @8R26JKWfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, require at least 4 staff and security guard and 2 of-age students to be armed.

 @8QWQK3Wfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, schools should require at least one teacher or security guard to be armed and trained in secret

 @8PF4DQ5from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8L4Z3P2from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that instead of a gun have them carry a taser which is less painful

 @8JR5TZHfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Cops should have guns outside the school in their cars. Only should they bring guns in the school if needed.

 @8JQJG8Wfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Not at all, That is quite a stupid question, For the safety of the CHILDREN in the school teachers should 100% NOT be able to carry a gun, dumb question, so dumb.

 @8JP2LFHfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Older students and teachers can carry knives for survival purposes not for defence

 @8JNBNRDfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8HP7P96from Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

I do believe if schools had some type of defence against intruders other then hiding.

 @8HHYLZ2from Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

No meanwhile Timmy going through teachers desk and pulls it out "hey Mr. Multan what does this thing d--bang" class fills with screams.

 @8CRV6LZfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

In an active shooter situation its hard for the police to know who would be the shooter and who is the teacher but also this doesn't happen much here so, eh. Just know if the teacher isn't trained then it is pointless and how are you gonna ask more of someone who isn't getting paid more.

 @9BX4TXYfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If a specific school is in a dangerous area then security guard type personnel should be armed around school.

 @8KLLDLNfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, some teachers would disproportionately target disadvantaged groups such as visible minorities.

 @8KHSXYDfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No. Canada doesn't have a gun violence issue; giving teachers guns would increase the danger of going to school by a large margin.

 @8HQW577from Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

this should be far from alloud, though it may be safer for the class what would the school board or goverment do if a student got a hold of it of in an emergency panic the teacher or gun holder shot a student instead of the criminal
