Should immigrants be deported if they commit a serious crime?

In 2015 the U.S. House of Representatives introduced the Establishing Mandatory Minimums for Illegal Reentry Act of 2015 (Kate’s Law.) The law was introduced after San Francisco 32 year old San Francisco resident Kathryn Steinle was shot and killed by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez on July 1, 2015. If the crime was intentional and threatening or causing injury or death or grievous loss of property etc.

If it is safe to enter their own country, but also depending on the crime. People who have committed more severe crimes that pose a larger threat to Canadian safety should be deported, but illegal immigrants should not be.

Should depend on the situation and whether their home country is dangerous and if they have family here that depends on their support. Also should depend on the crime committed, reasoning, and how they plan to make up for it (jail time and rehabilitation)
