If they are citizens of Canada they should be tried as Canadians, if they are not yet they should be deported unless they won't be safe in their home country (ie. they are of an identity that will face persecution, they are personally at risk if they return, or if the punishment for their crime would be inhuman such as torture or the death penalty.)

 @9F233YSfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

If they're a citizen then no. If they have t become citizen, yes. If it's safe

 @9DZBD2Qfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Depends on if they've become a Canadian citizen, then no. If they haven't and the crime is violent, then yes...as long as it's safe to return to home country

As long as they're not a Canadian citizen and the crime is a serious one

 @8WLDXSPNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Depending on if the country they are getting deported to could kill them eg; North Korea

If it is safe to enter their own country, but also depending on the crime. People who have committed more severe crimes that pose a larger threat to Canadian safety should be deported, but illegal immigrants should not be.

 @8V5DYM7from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

If we had implements in place to aid the immigrants that the government itself approves to enter to country this wouldn't be an issue in the first place.

 @8V3FQ7Bfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if they never had citizenship and it is safe for them to return to their country of origin. If they are citizens then they should be imprisoned in Canada.

 @8V2GMKPfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It would depend on the severity of their crime as well as their current citizen status.

 @8TXY7BLfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8T47Z2Pfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I think so only only if it is extremely serious where it harms plenty of Canadian citizens

 @8SYLG33from Nova Scotia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only if they have entered illegal unless it is unsafe to return to their country

 @8SRQFFDNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, if they are an official citizen then they receive punishment given by Canadian law

 @8SLS8SLNew Democraticfrom New Brunswick  answered…4yrs4Y

Hugely dependent on crime severity. Violent crimes and assault or endangerment to the public.

 @8SG8RBCfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

There must be a bench mark of how serious the crime is. If it passes it, then the person must be deported

 @8SD43Z6from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8S4QF4Wfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If they are a legal citizen of the country, they should serve their jail sentence within the country.

 @8RDRC96from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R5BZB5from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if they have not been granted citizenship, then they should be deported and not imprisoned on taxpayers dime.

 @8QR7G7Vfrom Northwest Territories  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, depending on the severity. First degree murder and rape should be reason to send immigrants back to their original country as long as its safe to return, if its murder done in protection for themselves i believe they should have the right to stay in Canada

 @8PXFNGVLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

depends on the severity of the crime, how long they've been in canada and how safe it is for them to return

 @8DSTBMMfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8DJ7SJHGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

I believe they should serve their sentence here in Canada because they are a citizen here now. Deporting them wouldn’t make sense because they need to face the consequences of their actions.

 @9C7LBXWNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @98XJ7KQfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

It depends on how long they've been in the country. Some people came here from a very young age and are a product of Canada's environment and not their country of origin.

 @8WZ6S2Xfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If they are failed to be rehabilitated and commit again they should go back

 @8P2JX7Qfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y
