No, but funds should be allocated towards building federal, provincial, and municipal governance structures and systems that continue to support decolonization and self-governance

 @9GNXXXTfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes. We've seen a lot of success with moving towards more options for indigenous governments and removing a lot of the Indian Act away from it. We can continue to do this through UNDRIP, TRC/MMIWG and RCAPs recommendations.

some people take advantage of their government funds, so you have to apply, to contribuite to the goverment

Yes, I believe the government should work with the many aboriginal nations to give them their land back as well and they should be further compensated for their hardships and more support should be given to them as reparations.

Talk to First Nations across Canada and see where needs could be met, and how different programs and services could be organized for mutual benefit between the government and indigenous communities and allow both to flourish and develop. We have a history of imposing different programs on indigenous groups across Canada without any of their say, and we need to change that to create a collaborative relationship. We cannot let our own personal bias and stereotyped views of indigenous people get in the way of this.

They should be integrated into our society as citizens and given more funding so that first nations communities can setup a proper infrastructure. The government should also give them their land back.

 @98FPFSYLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, they should, but they should also have more say in how those funds get used, as there has been a long history of government imposing things on them through the Indian Act, like the band system and other horrible atrocities, such as the Residential School System and banning of cultural practices like the potlach ceremony. There needs to be a more collaborative relationship with all three levels of government so that they can find mutual ways to support one another, and benefit each other as well as our country, and that does require funds, but also giving indigenous people a voice/more democratic participation.
