Because the rich, meaning the ultra rich (over one million anual income) should help the government more than their poorer peers

But, like, taxes are actually pretty important, you know? They help pay for stuff like schools, healthcare, and roads. If we don't pay taxes, how will we get all the things we need? And if the government forgives student loan debt, they might have less money for other important stuff.

I agree. That would only bring equity for the nation. If the government takes more of the poor peoples' taxes, that would only make the poor people poorer and the rich even richer.

Lower taxes for the poor still don't make life manageable for them, it keeps the rich rich and the poor barely living.

 @9FTHTQFfrom Ontario  agreed…2yrs2Y

They should lower taxes for the poor because they are poor from not being able to pay for things in the first place, if they dont have a job how do they make money to pay said taxes.

Taxes is needed to fund subsidized programs, cutting tax is a cheap tactic to give you less and charge you more in the long term. Taxes should still be much higher for the rich.

The ultra-rich do not NEED to live ultra-rich. It's selfish and unnecessary. The poor, on the other hand need help just to survive in many cases.

 @9FJSRV9from Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is absolutely no reason that we cannot lower taxes for the poor and raise them for the rich. Any single solution will be insufficient and a combination of solutions that work together will be the most effective and help avoid singular loopholes derailing an entire system

I feel like the lower income families shouldn't have to pay as much taxes, or shouldn't be automatically criminalized for not being able to afford taxes. For example if someone won the lottery last year, but is homeless this year, they probably aren't able to pay their taxes.

 @9G3L3BVfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

Lowering the taxes for the poor would help more people keep their homes and avoid becoming homeless.

The ultra-rich should cover the increase in taxes as they clearly have the means and the funds to do so. Relying on the poor to cover those funds is the equivalent of looking at someone who is in a state of health and expecting them to do more work instead of getting the person with a simple paper cut to help out.

If the poor are receiving less taxes, so should middle and upper class peoples. Who is to say the poor aren’t the cause of their own situations. Equality through common struggle.
