Should the government allow Coal Seam Gas (CSG) projects in Australia?

The hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") of coal seams is the process by which hydrocarbon gases trapped in rock deep below the surface are extracted. Drillers inject water, chemicals and sand at high pressure to split the rock open and create a pathway to the surface.
