Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions that release energy to generate heat, which most frequently is then used in steam turbines to produce electricity in a nuclear power station. About 15% of Canada's electricity comes from nuclear power, with 19 reactors mostly in Ontario providing 13.5 GWe of power capacity. Proponents argue that nuclear energy is now safe and emits much less carbon emissions than coal plants. Opponents argue that recent nuclear disasters in Japan prove that nuclear power is far from safe.

if it can be subbed then replace it
@9V9R5P2Conservative6mos6MO
I don’t support it because it could be fatal at any point and time, like what happened in Chernobyl. It’s dangerous because we are having more and more weather problems.
@9BKSCBLConservative2yrs2Y
Yes as long as the workers that work in the nuclear industry are strictly trained.
@99R22YXConservative2yrs2Y
I’m not educated on the subject
@92CXNND3yrs3Y
I don't have any knowledge on this subject.
@8VS3C5F4yrs4Y
Yes, fusion, not fission.
@8PS3C2K4yrs4Y
don’t even know what that is
@8PRN58W4yrs4Y
No, I believe alternatives towards nuclear energy should be looked into.
@8NW26JBLibertarian4yrs4Y
Odd that thorium, which is a next-gen nuclear energy source is lumped in with “no” on nuclear energy! Increase the use of thorium nuclear energy and explore widespread smaller scale fusion.
@8GYN5NP4yrs4Y
Yes/ no - we should not be investing in any new projects , and investing in a long term solution for cleaner alternatives such as wind, hydroelectric geo thermal
yes, but strict safety measures must be put in place to avoid as many problems as possible.
@99CKQSFConservative2yrs2Y
Yes but continue use of gas and oil
@98WZ87R2yrs2Y
Yes, but make sure it inspected every single month. Wether it is private or public the inspection should be every month by a third party
@97HHVXR2yrs2Y
Yes but only in places where hydroelectric dams aren't an option
@8Y4ZK2S3yrs3Y
I don’t have an opinion because I don’t know what it entails.
@8XPXKKG3yrs3Y
i don’t matter as long as it’s running
@8VFLJ7N4yrs4Y
I dont have the knowledge to know if we should.
I support investing in nuclear fusion research
@8V5QXMRNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No, and we should not build more power of any source to sell. Increase should be due to Canadian needs.
@8TN4GLW4yrs4Y
Yes, since the government should not be dictating how energy gets produced.
@8SGP44H4yrs4Y
Yes, but there are better solutions
@8WG9MDJ3yrs3Y
Yes, as long as the safety guide lines of the factory are followed
@8VFLKBQ4yrs4Y
Fusion, Solar, Wind, geothermal, thorium all should be well funded and developed.
