No, but we should have laws that prevent any form of discrimination, but since gender identity is subjective it would be impossible to have a law that covers all the possible interpretations of gender.

 @8CRV6LZfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

Its regressive to think that if a boy wears dresses it means he feels like a girl its just a boy who likes dresses

 @8T2CVZSfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no, if you are born male you are male, if you are born female you are female there is not more then two genders, animals don't have more then 2 genders because their are not any more then 2

 @B3G3R7Sfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

There are only 2 genders based on biology. Anyone that is discriminated against has a right to be treated humanely and protected as their person, not by their "gender identity".

 @9ZNXMHSfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Depends. Does your gender identity state your neither, both, or the opposite gender? Cool. Does your gender state that your a cat, or a bush, or an apache attack helicopter? No. Get over yourself, you aren't funny, especially since mentally ill people can take those things seriously.

 @9WVGRDQfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but individuals should not go to jail for making mistakes. They should only if it can be proven it was on purpose

 @9GCJ9X9from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

For the purpose of the government, protectivelaws should be based on sex, not gender. This would still protect the gay community.

 @B2KRS2Mfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Obviously assault and discrimination is not ok but verbal harassment shouldn’t send someone straight to prison

 @B269GQMfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

I’m a very, let me know and I’ll go by that. But you don’t state. I’m going to try to identify by appearance.

 @9QPTZ8Tfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but only with the valid gender identities like non binary, gender fluid, female and male but people with outlandish pronouns should not be supported.

 @9NKSC8Tfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

No, I think it should be talked about and have policies, but not a big enough deal to have a law for it.

 @9KYBDDCfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The often use of gender identity shouldn't be used as often, rather sex should be used. As such, gender identity would not required to be added to anti-discrimination laws.

 @9JC6BKVfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

People with legitimate issues shouldn't be discriminated against, however there is a large subgroup of that culture that's using the litigation as a shield and playing a different power game that I would consider unethical, though I haven't given it enough investigation to determine exactly what's going on there.

 @9HJSSRYNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, however, there should be a distinction between one being confused about another's gender and, discriminating against someone due to their gender.

 @9DHRMNZfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If you’re a plant people should laugh at you. Other than that, I support gender identity added to anti-discrimination laws.

 @9FD85P8from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I am neutral to these choices and I would like to stay out of the debate on gender, you can identify yourself as whatever you wish and I will not care.

 @9FBNJNZLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

im fine with male, female, trans and non binary but i feel like the other genders are unnessasary

 @9F7DNYYfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but restrict the protected identities to male, female, both, and neither.

 @9F5FC8S from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I’m undecided on how I feel about this topic in a broad stroke and currently consider it less important amongst other more pressing issues.

 @8YYK6BWfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I thought it already was, but if not, such discrimination should not be allowed.

 @8TYY4JFfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Since when did society start adding all these labels to people?? This is part of what is causing such mental health issues, people feel they don't fit into any 1 specific group STOP ALREADY!!!

 @8RZGYHNfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only the person is proven to be transgender as is identifying and transitioning to the opposite gender.

 @8RQTCTZLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, how about we are all “human.” Why does it have to be so technical. I think people want more boxes, more confusion to put us in, a larger divide. We need unify, not separating us further and further from each other. Social media has already done that so successfully. People want to feel special, and that they are different and somehow disadvantaged or unique and have a reason to complain, or point the finger at someone. Less boundaries, less boxes, more leading with love and kindness. Your a person, I’m a person that’s it. We should be equally treated if we are purp…  Read more

No. There are three identities. Male, female, and the unfortunate margin of people born deformed.

We should absolutely help that unfortune margin of peolek to assign the gender of their choosing. However it must fall into one of three categories. Male. Female. Other

 @93QXJCFfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

yes but limit it to male, female, or n/a anything else is extra and unneeded

 @92RTRZZfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Anti-discrimination laws are too strict, and run counter to our right to free speech. No speech should be limited, unless it is actively calling for violence, or harm.

 @8ZQ72FNfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

It's important that people give others the chance to try and understand different gender identities and not be criminalized for adaptation time

 @8ZKR6Z8from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZHHYDMfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Sex is a biological and unchangeable thing. Gender identify his more of a social thing, a social identity. Gender identity needs to be respected but we can't put it in laws, because it is something that can change. In laws identity needs to be solid, in things like legal documents and passports for example.

Our legal gender identity should be our biological gender/gender at birth. Any other gender identities can be used in other contexts.

 @8Y32JLDfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but using the “wrong” pronouns should not be considered a crime or punishable by a fine

 @8XZRK3Mfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Bill C-16 has bean a disaster for the social justice. As long as we have men in women's prisons simply for identifying as female we allow rape to other inmates. Given we still havent ended the war on drugs that means small time offenders are going to be at risk

 @8XNY52Lfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Discrimination shouldn't be a thing, but not always much you can do about it.

 @8XMSW79from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I would say it is fine as long as people are being realistic and not acting like "EXCUSE ME? I AM NOT A SIR I AM AN ATTACK HELICOPTER!!!"

 @8X2SVZYfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and no. It depends on how sensitive the person is towards the subject.

No, gender identity is too vague and subjective, and would would conflict of free speech. As is hate speech. Trans can do and identify with what they want, but do NOT legislate speech!

 @8VRCWKXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, not directly, but anti-discrimination laws should be amended to ensure that nobody is discriminated against based on gender.

 @8VK8K3Kfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, provided the identity is either female or male regardless of orientation at birth, as well as the identity at birth should determine things such as physical activities such as sports

 @8VJDW6Gfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Without extremism yes to a certain extent but other groups need to be fairly treated like religious groups with a give and take solution not an adolescent attitude.

No, the risk of convolution is to high and can be easily abused. The cons outweigh the pros.

 @8V5BZS8Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but there should be an exception for sports so that people must only be allowed to compete against athletes of the same biological sex as them to ensure fairness in women's sports.

 @8TZ8P4Kfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only after extensive public engagement and if “gender-identity” is clarified under the law. Some people clearly go too far with it, and deserve no legal protection (furries for example, who identify as human-animal hybrids).

 @8Q9MT3Ffrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, there are only two genders, male and female. Whoever thinks otherwise needs mental health therapy as people who believe that there are genders other than male and female and think that they are other genders other than male and female are mentally ill.

 @8P9DDJMfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

To a degree, no you should not be reprimanded for mis-lableing someone. However genders are what we were born with not how you feel. Anyone can be what they want and shouldn't be bantered for it though should not expect others to know what they chose to call them self.

 @8P9CY8Qfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Only in the short-term, due to mass unemployment and a bad economy; otherwise, private businesses should be able to hire whoever they desire.

 @8HPSK5WNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8HDGVYCfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8CM5QDJNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only if we provide more education to companies and schools regarding gender identity to increase knowledge and awareness.

 @9TXQ77FConservativefrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

No, there are only two genders which are genetically not psychologically determined

This is a mental heath issue. There have only every been (2) genders, what is the point of creating new ones. Every person should have equal rights regardless of the gender.

 @9D2BF3Pfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I am for gender identity however I don’t think it should have legal ramifications if someone does not respect it unless it violates the person who has gender identity charter of rights
