If per say someone only makes enough money in their job to provide food for their families and doesn’t have enough money to pay for healthcare, it wouldn’t be fair for them as they might only be able to take on that one job.

Once immigrants receive their citizenship, or even before that since they are on Canadian soil, they should have access to this healthcare as the law covers everything on Canadian soil.

 @9GK5S33from Manitoba  agreed…1yr1Y

Privatizing healthcare harms the middle and lower class for the benefit of a small minority of Canadians. Quite simply, access to healthcare is a human right; thus all people should have free and equal access to it. The privatization of healthcare would result in patients who may not need care as urgently over those in dire need solely due to them possessing greater wealth. The result would be innocent and equally-deserving people suffering and dying because wealthy individuals put their own needs over those of others. Instead of privatizing healthcare, all medical treatments and prescriptions should be free for all Canadians regardless of socio-economic status.

Angell 2008, 37% of Americans went without care they need vs 12% of Canadians, and life expectancy of Americans is now 2.5 years shorter than that of Canadians and have fewer hospital beds and nurses

When everybody is healthy, everybody can contribute to society in a more productive way. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege and everybody should be entitled to the same quality healthcare regardless of their status.

 @9GJ7GMCfrom Alberta  agreed…1yr1Y

Making health care accessible to everyone means making it available to those who need care the most.

 @9FW2SW5from Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

Say you're working to help provide for a family that is either underage, or unable to help contribute due to reasonable cause. It shouldn't be fair to make individuals pay for their health.

 @9GFB9THfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

They should agree because there are people who can't spend hours at a hospital waiting room especially on minimum wage were as rich people have the time to wait because maybe there not working as much or as hard and they can afford things like child care or a nanny but some people can't

We need to reinforce our existing public system before helping the private sector. We need to help normal canadians.

Given the option of charging higher amounts for privatized Healthcare would further reduce the number of physicians willing to accept patients on public medicare

 @B2PK6XWfrom Alberta  agreed…2mos2MO

People in the United States frequently speak about how the privatization of healthcare discourages people from seeking things like ambulances or emergency room visits - some people will even drive themselves in awful shape simply to avoid the ambulance cost. Things like having birth are also very expensive and organ transplants aren't fully covered there, unlike here where it is all payed for by the government.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/medical-bankruptcies-by-country, 70~% of bankrupcy is caused by private heathcare in the US where in canada it is 20~%

 @B23GQQXfrom Ontario  agreed…4mos4MO

The privatization of hospitals will only increase prices and make it so public hospitals are harder to access.

 @9ZTCTM8from Alberta  agreed…4mos4MO

Compare Canada's health care spending based on it GDP vs the USA's health care spending (basing this on the GDP accounts for population discrepancies)

Also compare the health outcome statistics in both countries.

 @9NP5LZ9from Ontario  agreed…10mos10MO

Prime examples come from the States with stories of families and individuals who have found their worlds turned around based on injuries or illness that can then consume their life and their budget, significantly changing their lifestyle and needing push themselves into further debt, without much in the way of pushing an economy.

"It ensures that people receive necessary medical treatment, regardless of their ability to pay, and promotes social equity by making healthcare accessible to all Canadians." Carrying and support

 @9GTNSCSfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

Evident through the circumstances occurring post-covid, Healthcare accessibility is a concern and due to the deficiency in healthcare workers, Canadians are struggling to access healthcare services and appointments adequately. Healthcare workers are under pressure, thus resulting in degrading quality. Public Healthcare has its many problems that require attention and therefore, Healthcare Privatization is of lesser priority.

 @9GQCL9Tfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

For-profit healthcare has been proven to cost more while providing poor quality of care. A portion of money spent on for-profit clinics must got to shareholders, and clinics may cut back on services, quality checks, and equipment to save money and increase profits

- the more people that can get access to free healthcare, the healthier the citizens of a country are.

Current Crisis Statistics:
- Ontario spends only $5,000 per capita on healthcare vs. $7,000+ in other provinces
- Nurse-to-patient ratios have dropped 20% since 2010
- Average ER wait times increased from 1.6 hours in 2015 to 4.7 hours in 2024
- 15% of Ontarians lack a family doctor

Investment Solution Impact:
1. Public Funding & Worker Support
- Raising nurse wages 20% would cost $2.1B annually - less than 2% of Ontario's budget
- Every $1B in healthcare spending creates ~12,000 direct healthcare jobs
- Improved working conditions reduce turnover (currently 14.6% annually)
