President Obama recently declared that the U.S. will accept 10,000 refugees from Syria. The U.S. has been under pressure from its Syrian allies to help out with the crisis in which 3 Million refugees have fled Syria in the past year. Those in favor of accepting refugees believe that the U.S. has a duty to join its allies in Europe and accept at least 10,000 refugees. Opponents argue that the U.S. should stay out of this crisis and accepting refugees from the Middle East leads to a risk of letting terrorists into our borders.

Yes, but thoroughly check their background and limit the amount accepted.
@955NLWG3yrs3Y
No, as the war in Syria is over and the population did re-elect the same president again.
@955LBYV3yrs3Y
If Canada has the availability and ability to hold and take care of them yes
@93T8BYB3yrs3Y
No more refugees until the housing crisis and inflation issues are addressed and in a better place
@939QKGH3yrs3Y
If the infrastructure is planned prior to arrival, if we can continue to support the refugees
@92VHL4P3yrs3Y
Yes but with better programs and support systems that don’t take away from Canadians
@8VSY4FS4yrs4Y
Until we have real healthcare, refugees should have to wait upwards of 1-2 years before being able to get a doctor. Take in those who are capable and willing to work and those who will help Canada and not drag on it
@8VSNDC44yrs4Y
We need to fix problems in our own country than help others. Fix homelessness here before we bring other people here and give them the opportunities that our own people should have
@8VPLF6C4yrs4Y
Yes, but we need to ensure the liability well beings of Canadians as a priority
@8VLHL4S4yrs4Y
It’s a complicated issue that should be looked at closer. Canada should welcome folks from all over but we are currently struggling ourselves.
@8VJZDKB4yrs4Y
yes, but we should limit the number each year
@8VJCPZF4yrs4Y
Yes, but stop putting them in Toronto and Southern Ontario, it is too crowded and we have so much room further north.
@8VHKMZK4yrs4Y
No, I feel that they should be redeployed in a country that better suits their current culture.
@8VH2T4R4yrs4Y
Focusing on our struggling Canadian Families is more important.
@8VFK6CJ4yrs4Y
Yes but make sure you’re providing housing for those in your own community first
@8VCMCR74yrs4Y
Care for our many local homeless
@8VBY7CMConservative4yrs4Y
Accept a limited number and do extensive background checks
@8V92FST4yrs4Y
Yes as long as they get a job and provide for their family. Noone should be given $ when they are given a chance to come here to live
@8V89N534yrs4Y
If they become a contributing member of society and dont they to change the way canadians celebrate holidays
I believe we should be stricter on who we let in. And make sure they pass Canadian citizenship tests, English/French tests, and not be handing out money and cars to whoever comes in. They should have to work for what they get just like us.
@8V35KBX4yrs4Y
We need to stabilize our country first
@8TLSVP74yrs4Y
Yes, but a family member who is able to fight should have to train with the military and then be sent back to fight for their country. The exception would be for single parents.
@8TBZT2KNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Yes, but no more then we can handle
@8T49TH64yrs4Y
We shouldn't open the flood gates of immigration, but do background checks and have the application process. It shouldn't be so easy as to just waltz right into Canada. But yes we should take in Syrian refugees.
@8SVPZS64yrs4Y
Only accept the Syrians that immigrate to Canada as any other Immigrant would.
@8S5C9X34yrs4Y
Yes, but we need to ensure that we do not accept too many to maintain within our country.
@8RCQ9NMConservative4yrs4Y
We should be looking after our own homeless people first and then accept refugees.
Yes, though we should keep in mind the employment status of current residents.
@8QXJ2WY4yrs4Y
Only those with decent education.
Yes, but we have to have a plan for what we'll do with them once they're in the country
Yes but with a Priority for families.
@8PLSVCT4yrs4Y
Only if they are able to contribute to the workforce
@8PKDCVZ4yrs4Y
Yes but only for areas that can support them
@8PDDZCX4yrs4Y
We need to take care of our own people first and take care of our homeless crisis
@8NVXXNM4yrs4Y
Yes, but with minimal financial support
@8MCDRLX4yrs4Y
yes, however if they bring positives into canada
We should dismantle the military industrial complex that leaves the global south in a state of perpetual instability in service of western profit interests.
@8JTD4LQ4yrs4Y
Not until traveling is safe from risk of getting COVID-19
@8JHT3774yrs4Y
We need to have a good set up to enable refugees to have a decent chance of living and job opportunity while they are living here. We shouldn't bring in tons if we are not prepared to host and employ them. If there is no job market, bringing them to us will not only be challenging for them, but for us as well. We should bring them because they are fleeing war, they need help, but we need to be better prepared for bringing them here.
@8HYR47Y4yrs4Y
No because we can’t help the Canadians that are cold hungry and homeless. So no please don’t accept anymore
@8D6DG935yrs5Y
yes we should accept refugees, but there is a point where the country cant take anymore. we should do it right. we need to make sure that they will live peacefully and accept our culture and not cause disruption coming from a different culture.
@8CZN5MSNew Democratic5yrs5Y
We need to focus on providing more for our current homeless population. Why should we bring others in to the country and support their needs before our own?
@8VJYWHS4yrs4Y
I dont have enough information to answer. All lives should be saved... including our own. And I just do not have enough information to know if this option makes me feel more or less safe in my country.
@8TW3XV84yrs4Y
Yes, to a relevant adjusting number that reflects the current economy.
@8TTWX844yrs4Y
Only if we fix the National housing crisis.
@8TKD6G74yrs4Y
If an individual chooses to, yes.
@8QJ8ZJDNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Yes, extensive background checks and dont give them more of a living wage then Canadians who need it I understand helping others but when you can't help your own country that's an issue
@8MRXJ864yrs4Y
Accept as many as we can support.
@8JW33M84yrs4Y
In all honestly, “Canada” needs to close its boarders I know so many people who were/are born and raised here in Edmonton, but no one wants to hire them because they’re hiring people from out of Country for less.
It needs to stop, the population is getting way to big for Edmonton alone.
