Former British Columbia finance minister Mike de Jong has been disqualified from seeking the Conservative Party of Canada nomination in the Abbotsford-South Langley riding. De Jong, who has been campaigning for nearly a year, announced that the party informed him he was not qualified to be a Member of Parliament. The decision has raised questions about the party’s selection process and criteria for candidates. De Jong has a long political history in B.C., having served in multiple cabinet roles. The Conservative Party has not publicly disclosed the specific reasons for his disqualification.

Just more proof that these so-called "democratic" capitalist parties are nothing but elite-controlled clubs where only the most obedient servants of the rich get a seat at the table.

Yet another example of how party politics is just a rigged game to protect the insiders and shut out anyone who doesn't play by their arbitrary rules.
The Conservatives love preaching about democracy, but then they turn around and block their own candidates without explanation. It’s just more proof that their party is controlled from the top down, with no real accountability. De Jong might not be my pick, but voters should at least have the chance to decide for themselves. This kind of gatekeeping shows how little they actually trust their own members.
Sounds like more backroom gatekeeping—let the voters decide who they want instead of party insiders calling the shots.

This is a pretty disappointing move by the party. Mike de Jong has years of experience and a solid conservative track record—why shut him out without a clear explanation? If the Conservatives want to win more seats, they need to be transparent and let strong candidates compete fairly.
Seems like a strange move by the Conservatives—if de Jong isn’t qualified, then who is?

Classic Conservatives—preaching about democracy but secretly picking and choosing who gets to run.
Conservatives shutting out one of their own without explanation? Guess loyalty only goes so far when you don’t fit their agenda.
