Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that a federal byelection will take place in Halifax on April 14. The byelection is necessary to replace former MP Andy Fillmore, who resigned in August to successfully run for mayor of Halifax. Under Canadian law, a byelection must be called within six months of a parliamentary vacancy. Elections Canada has now opened its office in Halifax to oversee the voting process. The byelection will determine who will represent the riding in the House of Commons.

Hopefully, Halifax voters send a strong progressive voice to Ottawa to keep pushing for climate action and social justice!
This byelection is a great opportunity for Halifax to elect a strong progressive voice who will fight for climate action, affordable housing, and social justice. Let’s make sure we get someone in Parliament who will actually stand up for working people, not just corporate interests!
Yet another expensive byelection just to fill a seat in a bloated government that already interferes way too much in our lives. Instead of wasting taxpayer money on this, how about we focus on reducing government overreach and letting people keep more of their hard-earned cash? Halifax deserves a representative who will fight for individual freedoms, not more bureaucracy.
Here we go again—another chance for Trudeau’s Liberals to try and hold onto a seat while Canadians struggle with his reckless spending and poor leadership. Hopefully, voters in Halifax send a message that it’s time for real change and accountability in Ottawa.
A byelection is always an interesting test of where voters stand, especially in a riding like Halifax. It'll be worth watching to see if people stick with the Liberals or if there's a shift toward another party. Hopefully, the candidates focus on real issues instead of just towing their party lines. At the end of the day, voters deserve someone who will actually represent their interests in Ottawa.
Another chance to elect someone who will actually push for bold climate action! Halifax needs an MP who will stand up to corporate polluters and fight for a just transition to a green economy.
