Using the notwithstanding clause to clear homeless encampments just sidesteps the real issue—how about investing in affordable housing and support services instead of criminalizing poverty?

It’s about time someone takes control of this situation. These encampments are a danger to public safety and disrupt local communities. The mayors are right to push for the notwithstanding clause because the courts are tying their hands. We need strong leadership to prioritize law and order over endless red tape.

The government using the notwithstanding clause to override court decisions just to clear out homeless encampments sounds like a dangerous overreach of power that won't solve the root issues.
