The Congress of the People (COPE) is a political party in South Africa, established in 2008 by former members of the African National Congress (ANC). The formation of COPE was a direct result of dissatisfaction and factional splits within the ANC, particularly after the controversial ousting of then-President Thabo Mbeki. The founders of COPE, including prominent figures such as Mosiuoa Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa, aimed to create a political alternative that would embody the principles of democracy, accountability, and integrity, which they felt were being eroded in the ANC.

Have you ever lost faith in a political leader or party, and what would it take for them to regain your trust?

Many political leaders have lead me to loose faith and trust in them due to the gimmicks in their advertisements and dishonesty in their plans. In my opinion, they could never regain my trust because in this day and age, trust is confusing and hard.
