People are hesitant to discuss their true beliefs because we only pretend to be an accepting society on the surface. After a little digging, it is obvious that any stance that disagrees with the commonly accepted view is seen as 'bad' or 'invalid.' People refuse to listen to others when communicating political views, preferring to argue and spread hate instead.
