I think minimum wage should make you enough to afford to rent a house on a budget of 2000$ a month and still have money for food, fuel, utilities, and more such as entertainment to keep yourself healthy and happy

 @9GF6FJ2Conservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Raise minimum wage or lower living costs. People cannot survive with the current state of taxes and wage.

 @9F9N55Dfrom Alberta  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If you don't pay your employees how are they going to pay taxes which in turn gives the government more money to help people out.

 @9FH4WZJNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Minimum wage is meant to provide a base level income for people to contribute to and engage with the economy. If it is so low that minimum wage workers are unable to do so, this negatively impacts the economy. There will be less demand for goods and services, so prices will raise. If anything, it will be a never-ending cycle of prices of goods raising if minimum wage is not elevated. Raising minimum wage allows people to participate more effectively in the economy, which is an overall advantage to our national economy.

If everything is constant increasing, so should minimum wage, its only fair for people in need of supporting themsleves

 @B3L334DConservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…1mo1MO

if the prime minister stopped building houses for himself we would be able to house more canadians if minimum wage went up for them to afford it which makes the governemnt get more money etc

 @B3G86MMdisagreed…1mo1MO

Not if minimum wage is equal to a living wage. If corporations raise their prices, they will be required to raise their salaries. If they lower their salaries, they can lower prices, receiving greater profits.

 @B3FPPZ5from Alberta  disagreed…1mo1MO

the cost of living has gone up substantially and our wages need to increase to balance that otherwise we will be too poor to buy homes and the economy will suffer.

 @B2TGBTYfrom Vermont  disagreed…2mos2MO

Regardless of if that’s true or not, punishing low income people for the government incapability of dealing with this is wrong. Increasing minimum wage to a salary at which people can LIVE with. Making low income people struggle with paying for basic necessities just because the government doesn’t know how to fund stuff is stupid.

 @B2RY3B2from Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

the prices have already soared due to inflation , the minimum wage hasnt, this has created a gap between the income of a minimum wage earner and the cost of living.

 @B2Q4JCYfrom Alberta  disagreed…2mos2MO

If the government puts proper caps and how busnisses can or large corporations can increase the pricings of their products then it'll help to keep inflation down.

 @B2M9PJNConservativefrom Alberta  disagreed…2mos2MO

That is only an assumption that the inflation rate will always rise. And even if it does, individuals should be able to survive with their wage in response to rising costs.

 @B22PQ83from Ontario  disagreed…4mos4MO

Raising the minimum wage doesn't cause a never-ending price increase cycle because the costs are typically absorbed through increased productivity, reduced employee turnover, and slight adjustments in profit margins. Real-world examples, like Seattle's wage increase, show modest price impacts and broader economic benefits, such as greater spending power and reduced reliance on public assistance. These effects create a net positive for workers and the economy without driving unchecked inflation.

Well, then the population can then support more of the small-time business, rather than the big-time businesses who do not care about the needs of the population, only that they will get more money from it.

 @9K3Q9Q5from British Columbia  disagreed…1yr1Y

Minimum wage should be able to afford the costs of living. We should be making enough money to support our families and have our basic needs. Our minimum wage should increase and our expenses should decrease.

 @9JXF34KNew Democraticfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

When we were at 13$ an hour things were good. nothing was too expensive and we were able to live. now at 16$ an hour you can barely afford anything because the price of everything has skyrocketed.

 @9H5JCH8Liberalfrom British Columbia  disagreed…1yr1Y

you should be able to make enough on a minimum wage job to be able to afford rent, car payments, food etc...
so minimum wage should increase to a point where people living on rent shouldn't have to worry about if they can make the payments.

 @9F6FC8BConservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

increasing minimum wage won’t cause prices to increase because people will be able to afford things. this will bring more money in for the government

 @9FV2YKRfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

 @9FS3HX5from Saskatchewan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If we increase minimum wage it will allow families to afford the prices of things even if the prices do go up.

 @9FRKYNNfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Price's are already increasing constantly regardless, no matter what prices will go up to a point people can't afford stuff. raising the Minimum Wage wont stop the prices anyway.

 @9FKT3SDfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

 @9FJJJVGfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The statement is irrelevant as increasing minimum wage will allow people to increase their purchasing power and can afford more.

 @9FH38CYPeople’sfrom Ontario  agreed…2yrs2Y

The fact that it has been a trend to continuously increase the minimum wage is proof in of itself that it has not solved anything.

 @9GYBKDPfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

I believe that if the government just stopped increasing tax they would have no need to keep increasing minimum wage.

 @9FSVSN6Conservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We need to increase minimum wage and decrease the prices on things so that people can live good and happy lives.

 @9FGMJLZfrom British Columbia  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The increased margins and profits of large grocery companies makes it clear and they are a major factor in what is percieved as "inflation"

 @9FGKWDMConservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think that the statement "No, this will only cause prices to increase in a never-ending cycle if we increase minimum wages" is true for a fact, but it's also untrue since if the government does not raise the minimum wage, people, especially the lower class, won't be able to afford the cost of living.

 @9FG4Y9Yfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Either way, whether minimum wage goes up or not, inflation will follow and there will be no legitimate benefit

 @9FDFH6Lfrom British Columbia  disagreed…2yrs2Y

 @9FG3ZGDfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

bring Canada down to 0% tax which will have more people coming to our country with money and will still be good for the market. It can also help the country become a growing country again. keep minimum wage

 @9G63GZTNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

The economy at the moment is in really bad state. If that could be fixed, people won't find it quite necessary to have prices increased. The main reason why people want the minimum wage to increase is because it's getting hard to afford and live in such an expensive economy. If the economy could be controlled, the demand to increase minimum wage will decrease

 @9GFB9THfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

I believe that is a risk that we should take, if companies were smart they would realize that if they make products cheaper and the wages up more people will have more money to spend on the foods or whatever the store is selling.
