Foreigners should have no right to vote whatsoever because they don't understand the issues Canadians face

 @9GGC5W8Liberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

We should allow anyone who pays taxes to vote, since they contribute to the functionality of the state

 @9G8MJGZfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

If they reside in Canada, they are working, paying taxes, raising a family, same as any citizen. They have a vested interest in the running of our country, and should be able to vote.

 @9G967HM from New Brunswick  disagreed…1yr1Y

I think that foreigners should be able to vote after they have a job and are paying taxes, also, they should be staying in Canada (not by force) to be able to vote, maybe after they have a house and have payed at least half of the mortgage, and if they have an apartment, after 3 months of paying rent.

 @9GDBYJJ from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

In many countries the length of residence alone would qualify somebody to vote. IIRC it is 3 years in the UK.

 @9G2PQW8from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

If you live in a country for over 5 years you should completely be allowed to vote because you are a citizen who is affected by the government.

 @B46VNTWConservativefrom Saskatchewan  disagreed…1wk1W

They didn’t grow up here. How are they supposed to know what is best for this country? They will just try to make it more like their home country they left.

 @B3XLDJ5from British Columbia  disagreed…3wks3W

Anyone living in Canada should have the right to take part in our democratic method of deciding a political leader.

 @B38YPMHConservativefrom Ontario  agreed…1mo1MO

No other logical country would allow you to vote in there politics if we’re not a citizen why should it be any different here.

 @B2XHDKFfrom Alberta  disagreed…2mos2MO

I think as long as they can mentally, or bad violent criminal, and pay taxes should be ok to vote and have input.

 @B2S698MLiberalfrom Wisconsin  disagreed…2mos2MO

This has to work because Americans living on the border have power charged by Canadians, and I feel like they should get a say on who gets to take that away from them.

 @B2JSX6Gfrom Ontario  agreed…2mos2MO

Foreigners are not living permanently in the country and can leave at any point, so they shouldn't be allowed to vote on something that will not impact them.

 @B2JGYPGfrom Alberta  agreed…2mos2MO

Citizenship is a Commitment: Voting should be a privilege for those who have made a formal commitment to the country through citizenship. Foreigners, by definition, haven’t made this long-term investment in the country’s future.

Sovereignty and National Interest: Allowing foreigners to vote risks shifting national policies towards foreign interests. Citizens have a direct stake in national decisions, while foreigners might prioritize their home country’s needs, potentially undermining the country’s sovereignty.

Social Contract: Voting is part of the social contract betwe…  Read more

Any person who resides and therefore interacts with an environment governed and influenced by the Canadian government should be able to direct influence and choice themselves

 @9ZV7KNJfrom Ontario  disagreed…4mos4MO

If someone has been living in a country for years and attainted citizenship, they shall vote because, at that point, they've been in the country long enough to know what goes on with the election cycles and have done their research (presumably).

 @9LRR8KT from Ontario  disagreed…12mos12MO

I think they should be allowed to vote if they’re paying taxes. What else makes a Canadian, besides paying Canadian taxes. No one Canadian looks like another it’s impossible to tell (unless you’re racist). If they’re paying taxes then they are affected by the vote. So they pay to have no say in anything, why should they even pay then?

 @9HVXD83from Nova Scotia  disagreed…1yr1Y

because they cannot speak English or french so why should we allow them to vote if they cant speak Canadians first language

 @9H23R6Zfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

By saying the foreign citizens don't have a right to vote, that's saying that they aren't a true citizen of Canada

 @9VJPP2SConservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…6mos6MO

Whether you like it or not your philosophy means that 90% of Canadians shouldn't vote and only 23% of Canada is made up of foreigners. It's because Barely 1% of the population is actually Canadian. Those who claim to be are just Europeans and if they are Canadian then by golly so are foreigners. Ask them yourselves are you Canadian or not, 90% of respondents will say that they are Canadian let a few generations pass and 100% of them will say they are Canadian. That's how Canada is Canada not Kanata.

 @9NKPXGQfrom Ontario  agreed…10mos10MO

This can cause election interference by foreign countries sending people to a country to vote for someone that will benefit their home country

 @9M3G4JQfrom Ontario  disagreed…11mos11MO

We should allow anyone who pays taxes to vote, since they contribute to the functionality of the state

 @9LVJGVXfrom Ontario  agreed…11mos11MO

only Canadians should be aloud to vote there not from here they only just came to the country they don't know what there voting for

 @9LTTZ77from Ontario  agreed…11mos11MO

I dont need to its a personal position and if you think other wise you should be free to feel that way

 @9FTX86Hfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Foreigners should have the right to vote because they live here just as much as we do and they also are effected by who is in position of power.

 @9FQ5WWFfrom British Columbia  agreed…2yrs2Y

You need to commit to Canada to have a say in our affairs. I think that citizens of non friendly countries should have to give up the citizenship of their native country if they want to be considered.

 @9FPXBYBfrom New York  disagreed…2yrs2Y

A foreigner probably has the same if not more political knowledge than someone who's been living in Canada for years.

 @9FNB6SCfrom Alberta  agreed…2yrs2Y

They weren’t born here and they just came here because there country is safe enough for them to be there why should they be able to vote for our country’s leader

 @9FBRQ28from Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think they should have the right to vote. Not only do foreigners also live in this country but if they were thinking about moving here, political reasons could be something making them want to stay away. If they think the political situation isn't the greatest then they may choose to move somewhere else where they could have some say (a vote) in who runs that place politically.

 @B32GQTD from New Brunswick  agreed…2mos2MO

I’m also ignorant to most statistics but from my experience it seems like there is a constant cycle that the liberal government is elected every election as the majority of foreigners want to vote for the government party who gives them more

 @9G4T8Q2from Alberta  agreed…1yr1Y

Foreigners shouldn't vote because their form somewhere else and there leaders are different then in Canada

 @9FWSR37People’s from Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

Just look at Israelis, Chinese, and Indian foreigners and what they do with their money/influence and you will understand what I mean.

 @9ZBFHR9from Manitoba  disagreed…5mos5MO

Anyone who pays taxes and has been residing for 2 years should be able to vote, if they are registered to.

 @9GHHJFFfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Almost all of Canada's population is built on immigrants as we are a very diverse country, therefore all foreigners should have a right to vote if they live in Canada because they are part of supporting the economy of Canada, and helping Canada become a better country

 @9FWCDYLfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

I mean there still part of this country whether you like it or not they live here they should get a right to what things happen in this country

 @9GC6KJQfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Foreigners have the right to vote because they are coming to live in the country, and have the right to vote on who they want to run the country they live in.

 @9G53PY8from Nova Scotia  disagreed…1yr1Y

If they are residents in this country they should have the right to vote because who ever comes into office and the decisions they make will effect them.
